This piece came from an estate sale in Pasadena, California.  Signed, Smith, and dated, 62, it’s a brilliant execution of color-blocking in endless shades of orange.  We have yet to identify the artist, but it is obviously the work of an accomplished modernist painter.  Clearly, this is the original metal frame which is of exceptional construction, right down to the remarkable triangular wooden biscuits used to strengthen the canvas joints.  Even if you are not a fan of orange, this work may change your mind.  It’s a Too brilliant exploration of light and texture that is sure to brighten any room or space.
